Dame Kate Harcourt is an Equity national performers committee member and one of New Zealand's best loved actors. She was awarded the New Zealand Order of Merit in 1996 for her lifetime's work in the theatre and in 2015 won the inaugural Equity New Zealand Lifetime Achievement Award. "Equity requires professional standards from its members and is empowered to ask for professional standards from our employers, whoever they may be. I am proud to be a member of a union which stands up for its members and works so hard on their behalf" says Dame Kate.
Dame Kate was a member of Equity's 2012-2013 negotiating team for the first ever recommended agreement for screen productions in New Zealand. Dame Kate was recently awarded first prize in the Best Female Actress category for her leading role in the short film Pacific Dreams at the 2011 Rhode Island International Film Festival.
